Passing of Instructor Jeffery Fuehrer

Jeffery I. Fuehrer, 70, of Bethlehem, died on Monday, August 18, 2014 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg. He was born in Phillipsburg, NJ, the son of the late Walter and Gladys (Van Syckle) Fuehrer. He was the loving husband to Mary (Kramer) Fuehrer, they were married for 42 years. Jeff was a graduate of Moravian College and earned his MBA from Lehigh University. He was a Captain in the Air Force having served in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. He worked in the financial department at Sacred Heart Hospital for 10 years and Muhlenberg Hospital for 25 years. He had a passion for public service. He served as the Fire Police Captain for Han-Le-Co Fire Department, he was a non-suppression instructor for the State Fire Academy, volunteered for numerous EMS organizations, and a former board member of the Eastern PA EMS Council. He was a member of the Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church, an avid history buff, and collector of historical memorabilia. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary; his two sons, Kevin and his wife, Peggy and Thomas and his wife, Melissa, all of Bethlehem; his grandchildren, Sara, John, Adam, Meghan and Aaron; and his beloved dogs, Laurel and Talisker. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Visitation will be Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem. KEY Award Nominations

The KEY Award is a means of recognizing and honoring the accomplishments and dedication of Pennsylvania emergency service instructors who are members of the KCFSI.  Recipients of the annual award serve as the representatives of the Keystone Chapter and the hundreds of instructors who regularly and consistently strive for excellence in training and education of the fire and emergency service personnel across this state.

A nomination for the KEY Award can be made by any KCFSI Member by simply completing this form.  The nominee must be an active member of the KCFSI.  The KCFSI Executive Board will select the finalist for the KEY Award based on the information on the applications.

The KCFSI will present this award to one person who is a current KCFSI Member in good standings at the Annual Meeting on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 10:00am at the Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology building in Pleasant Gap
